pain is the kryptonite of performance

It impacts speed, coordination, agility, power, strength, endurance, mobility (the Body). And also affects your joy, stress relief, identity, your goals, and mental health (the Mind).

I’ve been an athlete my entire life—college soccer, distance running, even an Ironman Triathlon. I understand the kind of pain that comes with training and competition. In a way, we choose that pain. We know it, maybe even welcome it. It pushes us, distracts us, and reminds us we’re alive. Most importantly—it’s a sensation we feel in control of.

MY GOAL
IS SIMPLE

To help you take back your body, your sport, and your life. Don’t let pain steal the joy from another workout.

Chronic pain is different. It’s the pain you don’t choose. The pain that doesn’t fade after a race or a rest day. It’s the ache or sting that shows up uninvited and stays too long—slowly taking the joy out of running, cycling, lifting, or whatever you love. The activity that once helped relieve stress now adds to it. You find the pain lingering in the back of your mind, anticipating it as you go into the next workout, “Will it still hurt today? Will it ever go away?”

If you’re tired of pushing through workouts in pain, or feeling like your body is no longer yours to control, I want you to know there’s a new way forward, backed by decades of pain neuroscience research. At MindBody Physical Therapy & Pain Reprocessing, I examine and look at your body, I observe your movement, your mechanics, and—just as importantly—your pain story and all the psychological factors that come with it. Together, we’ll work to discover the reasons your pain has lingered beyond the normal healing time of your tissues (yes, all tissues in our body heal), and create a specific plan tailored just for you.
